*Explanation of osmolarity:

YES VM is a vaginal moisturizer/lubricant - designed for vaginal use. The specific parameters that make it a suitable lubricant for vaginal use are:

1. pH adapted to the typical vaginal environment (pH4.0-4.5) to maintain vaginal health, as the vaginal microflora is predominant lactobacilli which create the acidic environment.

2. Iso (the same as) or hypo (slightly lower) osmotic in the tissues of the vagina. This means that the concentration of the formulation, in particular the quantity and quality of molecules dissolved in the lubricant matches that of human plasma and the osmolarity of human cells.

Perfect osmolarity (Iso or slightly hypo) ensures that the tissues are not irritated by forced extraction of water from the tissues (as part of osmosis). All glycerin-based lubricants are hyper-osmotic and this can cause cell damage and irritation, increasing the risk of STD transmission through damaged tissues. Slightly hypo-osmotic Lubricants will release water into dry tissues without damaging them. YES WB is slightly hypo-osmotic in vaginal tissues and has a pH of 4.0.
